Founded with the mission of equipping leaders, growing teams, and catalyzing significance, Redwoods partners with institutions across the public and private sectors — including Carnegie Mellon University Africa — to deliver transformative leadership development programmes.
Core Focus Areas
The Redwoods Leadership programme is built around four interconnected pillars that together form what the organization calls Integrated Leadership — the purposeful blending of mind, energy, heart, and relational intelligence to lead effectively:
- Self-Awareness: Identifying personality types and influence styles to better navigate personal and organizational dynamics. Understanding one's strengths, blind spots, and default patterns of behaviour.
- Emotional Intelligence: A foundational skill emphasized in their transition series talks at CMU-Africa — recognizing and managing emotions in oneself and others as the key to self-leadership and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Integrated Leadership: Blending cognitive capability with emotional maturity, relational wisdom, and purposeful energy. The goal is not just technical competence but whole-person leadership that inspires trust and drives impact.
- Team Collaboration: Customized exercises and modules designed to build resilience, trust, and collaboration within diverse teams — critical for the multicultural environment at CMU-Africa and beyond.
Professional Coaching
Beyond group workshops, Redwoods provides one-on-one and group coaching engagements aimed at improving manager and team effectiveness. As a Mastercard Foundation Scholar pursuing graduate studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at CMU-Africa, this leadership training reinforces the Foundation's commitment to developing not just technical talent but transformative leaders who will drive social and economic change across the African continent. The skills gained — emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and integrated leadership — complement my engineering practice and prepare me to lead with purpose in the fields of IoT, embedded systems, and smart agriculture.
